Many failure codes are caused by a faulty timer (also known as the Electronic Range Control). Sometimes, even when the failure code implies that another component has failed this can actually be a timer problem (whereby the timer is not displaying the correct fault code). If you are not sure whether the code you are seeing is due to a problem with the timer please call us, or send us an email, since we can help you determine whether the failure code is likely a timer problem or a problem with some other component. We can repair most timers so if you are sure your problem pertains to the timer (or ERC) please fill out a repair service request and send us your timer to be repaired.

Maytag with type "C" and "D" Clocks
F1 | Supervisory relay enable shorted (non-cook mode); sounds alarm and inhibits cook mode if alarm fault monitor is always active in non-cook mode, and requires removal of power until serviced. | Usually a bad touch pad or clock assembly (also called the ERC). Replace touchpad or have ERC repaired |
F2 | Bake/broil/clean temp runaway alarm; sounds alarm and resets control to non-cook mode when bake/broil/clean temp exceeds programmed limits. | Usually means a stuck relay. Electric @ 525F (bake), 640F(broil), 900F(clean) Gas @ 525F (bake), 640F(broil), 900F(clean) |
F3 | Open temp oven temperature sensor; sounds alarm and inhibits cook mode | Replace oven temperature sensor |
F4 | Shorted temp oven temperature sensor; sounds alarm and inhibits cook mode | Replace oven temperature sensor |
F5 | Supervisory relay enable open (cook mode); sounds alarm and resets the control to non-cook mode | Repair electronic range control (ERC) |
F5 | Missing a/c line cycle detector; displays code (no audible) | Unplug appliance for two minutes, should clear problem |
F7 | Function key shorted; too hot at the clock assembly (also called the ERC) or shorted touch pad or clock assembly (also called the ERC) | Replace touchpad or have ERC repaired |
F8 | Analog/Digital supervisory; sounds alarm to non-cook mode | Have ERC repaired |
F9 | Door latch supervisory (door latched) | Unlock door and check switches or clock assembly (also called the ERC) |
F0 | Cancel key supervision | Requires the removal of power until serviced. See qualified technician |
