Extended Warranty Terms and Conditions

ApplianceTimers.ca is a division of Macro Point Ltd., which was incorporated in 1969. Macro Point offers extended warranties on all appliance timers sold or repaired by Macro Point or ApplianceTimers.ca. Our extended warranties provide long-term protection against timer failure.

Warranty Period

Extended warranties can be purchased in one-year increments for periods ranging from one to ten years. Our extended warranties are an extension of (and on top of) our normal one-year warranty. Therefore our extended warranties commence exactly 1-year from the date we ship your repaired, new or rebuilt timer to you. The warranty period termination date depends on the length of the extended warranty purchased. Here are some examples that show the starting and ending dates of some sample extended warranties.

Warranty Coverage

Macro Point’s warranty obligations are limited to the terms set forth below:

Macro Point warrants appliance timers against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for the duration of the warranty period (as described above). If a timer defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Macro Point will either

  1. Repair the failed appliance timer.
  2. Exchange the failed timer with a new or refurbished part that is at least functionally equivalent to the original timer.
  3. Refund an amount that is equal to two times (2x) the original extended warranty purchase price for the part.

In the case of option 1 and 2, the repaired or replacement part assumes the remaining warranty of the original part for which the extended warranty was purchased. If your failed timer is exchanged as described in case 2, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Macro Point’s property. When a refund is given, the part for which the refund is provided becomes Macro Point’s property.

Exclusions and Limitations

This Limited Warranty applies only to the appliance timer part that was provided by or repaired by Macro Point (or its subsidiary ApplianceTimers.ca). Macro Point does not warrant that the operation of the part will be uninterrupted or problem-free. Macro Point is not responsible for damage arising from failure to follow instructions relating to the part’s use or due to improper installation.

This warranty does not apply:

  1. to damage caused by abuse, misuse, flood, fire, earthquake or other external causes;
  2. to damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not a representative of Macro Point;
  3. to a part that has been modified to significantly alter functionality or capability without the written permission Macro Point;
  4. if any serial number has been removed or defaced.

This limited warranty does not extend beyond the appliance timer itself. To the extent permitted by law, Macro Point is not responsible for direct, special, incidental or consequential damages resulting from a failure or problem with the warrantied part. This exclusion includes, but is not limited to, any loss of revenue, loss of actual or anticipated profits, loss of opportunity and damage to other appliance components or any other property. This warranty does not include the cost of removal or reinstallation of the timer.

Macro Point does not claim that it will be able to repair or replace every part under warranty since certain parts may be beyond repair and in some cases replacement parts will no longer be available.

Our Extended Warranty does not include the cost of shipping the failed part to be repaired or the shipping costs associated with returning the repaired or replaced parts. The customer will be charged the actual cost of shipping without any mark-up or handling fees.

If a timer is sent in for repair and Macro Point tests the timer and determines that nothing is wrong with the timer, the timer will be returned to the customer without any repairs conducted and the customer is responsible for the shipping costs. Macro Point is deemed to be the authoritative expert in determining whether a timer is in proper working order and Macro Point’s opinion is final.
