What is a Timer?

The "Appliance Timer" is the main control unit within large appliances. These "circuit boards", control the cycling of the appliance in the case of washers, dryers and dishwashers. In the case of stoves and ranges, the timer controls the temperature and conveys power to the oven elements. Range timers can also show the time and can control the oven when you are not home. Most older appliances, built before the 1980's, have mechanical timers as opposed to electonic timers with digital displays. At ApplianceTimers, we are skilled at repairing both types of timers.

People often assume that, when their timer fails their appliance needs to be replaced. Nothing could be farther than the truth. Although the timer is an essential component, it can usually be repaired. Many of our customers have appliances that are 30 or 40 years old. In some cases we have repaired their timer two or three times since it is common for timers to fail every 10 - 15 years.
